Director / Graphic Designer
Though known for his work as a graphic designer and brand specialist, Nick is more than just the pentool behind the visual identities for some brands you’re definitely aware of. He’s also a co-founder of Father Coffee, a lover of Johannesburg, and a fan of design in every form.
Director / Strategist
Most people know her as Anthea Knows Best, and there’s a good reason for that. With the best part of a decade of on-the-ground experience as Senior Researcher and Strategist at Instant Grass, she’s the go-to-girl when it comes to logic and local insight.
Director / Digital
The brains, beard, and bouffant behind premier youth culture website, we-are-awesome.com. Andrew is also an accomplished content creator, digital strategist, and marketer. In fact, though hard to believe for an export of the Mother City, the only thing Andrew isn’t doing, is nothing.
Strategist / Events
Hailing from an event background, as both a DJ and an event producer, Katlego has developed an understanding of what it takes to make things happen. As a Jozi kid he has a keen knowledge of the various markets at play within the city and country as a whole.
A recent graduate of Vega Cape Town, Hannah spent several weeks at BBDO Hong Kong before moving back to hometown JHB to join The Bread team permanently. She has a varied but solid design-style and is experienced in dealing with youth culture and lifestyle brands.
Vega Johannesburg graduate in Strategy and Innovation, self taught photographer and content generator, this multi-talented young man is on a mission. Having experience in print media as a writer, layout designer and photographer, this Jozi-born kid is an all round lover of the arts and youth culture.
SEKH-FEI DE LACY
Growing up around photographers and advertisers, Sekh-Fei developed a natural capacity for content-creation. From video to photography he understands how to communicate in-line with a brand’s strategy and in a way that speaks to people. Sekh-Fei took up a permanent position at The Bread after spending a year in New York.
With over five years spent in the magazine industry as a writer and editor, Gugu switched paths after a post-graduate stint at Vega to pursue a career in strategy. Now, she couples her experience as a strategic planner with her love for the written word to build brands.

Insight & Strategy
One part journalism student, one part fashion student, The Sartists (Kabelo and Wanda) are recognized as two of the most humble, stylish, and knowledgeable people in Jozi. They’re revered by many and continue to push culture forward by taking cues from the past.
Design & Research
Success can either be found cruising around the CBD on his bike, working energetically behind his laptop, or effortlessly blending in with the various groups that frequent Jozi’s coolest cultural spots. Always hungry for a challenge and his design work speaks for itself.
Insight & Entrepreneurship
Having started Thesis, a lifestyle store, run cru, and events collective in the heart of Soweto, Wandile and Gale are admired by many in their capacity as true custodians and connoisseurs of culture.
Strategy & Insight
Frypan is one of the most unique, and recognized names on the streets of Jozi. Not only did he start RHCT Online, an online store that stocks the best of local up-and-coming brands, he has also helped brands like Levi’s and Puma gain a cultural foothold in Jozi. He can still be found hand-delivering goods from RHTC Online on his bike after hours.
Illustration / Design
Lazi’s (or Greii Spaces) unique and unmistakably-local style has been creating waves for the last few years, recently affording him the opportunity to work with brands like Nike, Red-Bull, Str.Crd, and more. He has also become well known for dabbling in animation and fashion design.
Spatial / Graphic Designer
An architectural sensibility that offers up practical solutions and an aesthetic sensitivity that makes sure they’re beautiful. It’s Carl’s keen eye that has seen much of the recent revival and development in Braamfontein realise its vision.
DANIEL TING CHONG
His distinctive illustration style and design eye is turning Daniel into one of the country’s most recognised creatives. It’s also the thing that has earned him commissions from brands such as Nike, The New York Times, and Red Bull.
Spatial Designer / Fabricator
Cape Town based Art Director turned spatial designer and fabricator, Dean has created spaces for the likes of Anatomy and many local eyewear brands. He also makes flatpack furniture in his spare time.
Gallery owners / art consultants
Murray and Matt have been heavily involved in the South African fringe art scene for several years and run the hugely successful Kalashnikovv gallery in Braamfontein. Our go-to guys for anything art. www.kalashnikovv.co.za
If it’s a piece of local video content that got your attention, there’s a good chance WAA Film were behind it. In the last few years they’ve shot, cut, and produced for bands and brands from Little Dragon, and The Drums to Absolut, adidas, The Fader, and ABSA.
Radio is a design driven production company housing a diverse team of creative talent specialising in animation and illustration. Founded in 2011, with studios situated in London and Cape Town, our goal is to offer design based solutions for clients big and small.
Creative Event Engineers
With a portfolio of events including Balkanology, Jozi Craft Beer Fest, and Flamjangled Tea Party, it’s little surprise brands like Converse, Puma, and Louis Vuitton call on The Beanstalk when they need to make an event, a success.
Copywriting / Positioning
As a copywriter by day and a co-owner of FATHER Coffee by any other time he has, Chad has established himself as a writer and creative who understands branding and positioning better than most.
One part man, one part musician and one part illustration prodigy. Johnny’s artwork has been featured around the world, while his commercial work has helped build brands like Mercedes-Benz, Virgin Mobile, Havaianas.
There’s a good reason Kitsi offers a fresh perspective on global trends and fashion culture. It’s because she travelled the globe to get it. From New York to Paris, to Italy where she gained her Masters in Trend Forecasting while employed at Pitti Uomo.
Richard has been in the industry for several years and has created a colourful portfolio of local, international, and self initiated work.
Eitan is Cape Town based founder of Legalese, a creative legal agency which has redesigned legal services to suit the creative sector, start-ups and growing businesses, by making the services affordable, accessible and user-friendly.
